For the last two years, almost to the day, I’ve been running promotions and collecting the results to better understand this book marketing stuff.
One highly successful strategy is the making of book one in a series Perma-Free. Today, for the first time, the first book in my mystery series is free because of price matching.
I didn’t know when it would happen. I was pleasantly surprised when I check my dashboard and saw 14 downloads this afternoon around 3:00.
It’s interesting to me that people can find a book that has just gone free. I understand how people run across a title when it’s ranked on a sub-genre list, but out of the blue like that is a mystery.
After I saw the price match I tweeted once and put up a post on G+. That’s all. It has since made it to 227 downloads for the day as of 9:55 pm.
I’m confident that the value (in future sales of books 2, 3, and 4) is greater to my bottom line than it was yesterday when I sold only a couple copies. Of course, I don’t know that to be true, yet.
I’ll try to post updates as I learn more about the Perma-Free business model.
