Rap and Violin

Terrell Fulwiley is homeless, but not dreamless. He raps. Thirty-one years old, without a high school education, he has been on the streets of Iowa City for the last six years. His friend Lorelei carries a violin. She is a student at Iowa…in the Math department. She has dreams, too.

In an age where a South Korean (Psy, Gangham Style) can have the all-time most watched video in YouTube history (North of 400 Million Views), anybody is one lucky break from realizing their goals. The words he strings together are solid, but will anyone listen?

Filming with my iPhone 5, I captured Terrell and Lorelei mixing rap and violin. The words get a little bit lost behind the violin and that is too bad. In a studio, the tracks would be separate and one could adjust his volume, but sadly that isn’t  possible for this recording. I’m sorry, because he deserves to be heard.

Still, one gets the idea. It is obvious that there is talent in both of them. I could see it in their eyes. If you see it too, in the video, then maybe you could tell a friend?

Dude. You are so right. One step away from breaking out. I have never heard rap and violin together and if produced could be a killer combo. Hey look at Jack White and his sis - guitar and drums and killer hooks. Terrell and Lorelei have talent.

Great post and love your humanitarianism Brian.
