This week has been a bit of a challenge. I have been under the weather all week. Nothing serious, just a bit of a cold or allergies, or allergic to my computer being broken, or something. I really don’t know.
My computer, which I love dearly, wouldn’t reboot a few nights back. I spent about 4 hours trying everything I could think of, but it just wouldn’t go. It is sort of a massive machine, with 2 TB of hard drive space, 2 graphics cards, 3 monitors, an attached secret laser beam which can be used for world domination, should I choose to do so. Having it feeling slightly unhealthy worried me a bunch.
I was fairly certain that it wasn’t virus related, as I keep a close eye on the protection software and it seems to be keeping all the beasties out. A couple of years ago I had it get sick and it took a month for the repair guy to find the problem. It turned out to be a faulty cable connecting the hard drive.
I was hopeful it was something similar.
Living in a town of 280 is great. My neighbors are wonderful. It is quiet and there is a really chatty cat named Ralphie who occasionally visits me. Living here is a joy…unless I don’t have a computer. Then it becomes a bit lonely. I like being in touch with all my friends all around the world, via email, Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin ect. Plus I have a blog to post every day!
So as some of you know, I have set up a temporary bunker at my parents house. Mom has a computer, with only one monitor, but it is still quite a good machine. So I am able to get online, play a game of chess, or tweet with my favorite tweeple. (You know who you are.)
What I haven’t been able to do is woodworking. I am sorry about that woodworking buddies. I hope to be back in Martelle in the not too distant future.
On Friday it was determined, by a very clever guy named Ben, at Geek Squad in the Best Buy, that my motherboard was the problem. He wasn’t sure if they still produced the exact model I had, and since I have so many things jammed into the case and onto the motherboard, it was important to get something similar.
Ben did some research and found out that the motherboard was still in production! In fact, it was on sale from Amazon. So I ordered it, and it should arrive Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Then they should be able to get my computer back on its feet again.
Until then, you the reader will have to suffer through my creative writing, cold induced rants, and more chapters of Henry Wood.
Now I am going to go back and watch some more football. I was pleased that the ISU Cyclones won, as did the Buckeyes. Thanks for coming by.
